24 Hrs Inline Montreal 2008 - September 6-7

Registration will open July 14th.

This 24-hour relay race in teams of up to 10 skaters – or undertaken solo for those with special stamina – is quite a unique skating event, a bit crazy, exciting, tiring, challenging. The environment is one of great camaraderie and healthy competition.

For the fifth edition of this event, the club has already reserved space for three teams in various categories. We'll pass on the benefits of early bird pricing to our club members who want to participate.

REGISTRATION JULY 14 onwards

On July 14, OISC opens up registration for the first 30 club members who want to participate in the event. Fitness and recreational teams will be formed based on your speed and on the experience you want to have. Don't miss out on this opportunity. Click here to sign up online. Spots are very limited so please don't delay!

24 Hrs Overview

The event lasts 24 hours, from 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6 till 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7. The teams or solo competitors complete as many laps as possible within that period of time on a 4.7 km track in Montreal – the Gilles-Villeneuve racetrack in Parc Jean-Drapeau, Notre-Dame Island. The track is exquisitely skateable, flat and scenic.

"What a most excellent event. Loved skating on the smooth Villeneuve track pavement, seeing the fireworks, skating under the stars, meeting with friends, absorbing the festive ambiance, and simply being a part of the energy of hundreds of adrenaline-filled skaters!" -- Alicia Weiss, club member

Team Quarters

Every team is assigned a 6m x 6m (20ft x 20ft) space in the garages that line up the skating track. The Ottawa Inline Skating Club has 3 adjoining spaces for skaters in the club’s teams. The club is planning to make that big area comfortable and convivial for its team members.

Club teams will also set up tents on the roof of the garages, just above the paddocks, where ‘off-duty’ skaters can retire to get a restful sleep.

There are plenty of activities and music at the “village” by the start line, with information booths and exhibits, souvenirs, food and drink.

Check out the official 24 hrs site for more information on this event, and don't leave without watching the 2007 edition video.
