What is the 24 Hrs Inline Montreal?

This 24-hour relay race in teams of up to 10 skaters – or undertaken solo for those with special stamina – is quite a unique skating event, a bit crazy, exciting, tiring, challenging. The environment is one of great camaraderie and healthy competition.

24 Hrs Overview

The event lasts 24 hours, from 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 7 till 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 8. The teams or solo competitors complete as many laps as possible within that period of time on a 4.3 km track in Montreal – the Gilles-Villeneuve racetrack in Parc Jean-Drapeau, Notre-Dame Island. The track is exquisitely skateable, flat and scenic.

Team Quarters

There are several teams per paddock in the garages that line up the skating track. OISC teams will be together in the same paddock, and the club will provide drinks and some food for our team members.

Club teams will also set up tents on the roof of the garages, just above the paddocks, where ‘off-duty’ skaters can retire to get a restful sleep.

There are plenty of activities and music at the “village”, with information booths and exhibits, souvenirs, food and drink.

Check out the official 24 hrs site for more information on this event. Don't leave without watching Mike Garvin's video of the 2008 edition, when OISC's Rabid Lap Dogs II team won the Gold Medal in the elite category!

Registration

Registration is now open for the first three OISC teams. Full 200910 club members who have discussed their interest in joining a fourth team with the team captains, can register now. 2009/10 social members will be able to sign up starting July1.
