Good luck to all Ottawa speed skaters!
harriston

Roller Sports Ontario, our provincial association, organizes the inline speed skating provincials while Roller Sports Canada is responsible for producing our national championships. These championships are contested on a track, typicaly about 250m long.

Provincials are taking place this weekend in Harriston, ON at Canada's only banked track. Nationals will be in Montreal in early July.

There are also two amazing marathon events coming up:

  • July 1 - Canada Day Marathon and 1/2 marathon in Cambridge, ON
  • July 9 - Canadian Nationals Marathon (open) at Gilles Villeneuve F1 race track in Montreal

  • Training pit falls you can avoid by Barry Publow

    Skating alone and technical limits
    pack skating

Aside from your own individual technique the most important skill you can develop as an inline athlete is the ability to be comfortable and efficient in a pack. This means drafting close and being able to deal with the dynamics of a group.

Petit train du nord - June 10

94 km of paved skating paradise in heart of the Laurentians

In 2006, we will conduct monthly excursions to Le Petit Train du Nord from June to September. It is an old railroad converted into a 200 km path meandering through the beautiful Laurentian countryside, with a 93.5 km section from Labelle to Mont Laurier paved in 2003. This trail is ideal for inline skating as the railroad has smooth asphalt and a maximum grade of 6 degrees.
