| Program for recreational skaters |
 |
For 2006, OISC will provide two levels of recreational
and fitness programs.
Recreation 1: The focus for this group will
be honing basic inline skating skills and building
confidence on skates.
Recreation 2: This group’s focus is mostly
recreational skating as a way to enjoy the outdoors
and adopt a more active lifestyle. Programming for
this level will include instruction on improving skating
technique and gain solid fundamentals.

| Program for speed skaters |
 |
To suit the different needs and various skills of
skaters we are offeirng two kinds of
programs.
Fitness / Speed Program 3 is for members
that have mastered recreational skating and are
interested in speed skating.
Fitness / Speed Program 4 is designed to
help speed skaters optimize their technique, obtain
peak conditioning and use periodization for preparing
for races.

| Skate your best ING marathon or half marathon |
 |
This program will help you prepare for the May 28th
marathon or half-marathon inline skating events.
The focus will be on helping you build a sufficient
base to comfortably complete the marathon or half-
marathon distances by building up your weekly
skating distance to 80 kms or 40 kms per week
respectively. This clinic includes two practices with
Barry Publow, internationally renowned inline skater
and exercise physiologist, author of Speed on
Skates, and head coach of the Ottawa Inline
Skating Club.
In addition to the camaraderie
and
motivation of training with skaters with similar
goals, the clinic will cover the ingredients of a
successful training program.
On April 12, we will hold a "chalk talk" where we will
host experts in a number of areas to give
participants valuable insights to help with their
training, nutrition and achieving your goals.
