Dear Inga,
It's been a great summer for inline skating in Ottawa.
Surely, one of the highlights for us and many of our
readers has been On A Roll published every
week since April 10. As the days are getting shorter,
it's time to wrap up the weekly e-news until next
spring. You'll still hear from us every so often.
We thought it'd be nice to ask you to send us your
favourite On a Roll moments from this season.
What's been great, what else would you like to know
about (there's next season), what can we improve
on?
And tell us what your highlight from this
year's skating season is? Simply reply to this e-mail
and yours truly will be at the other end. In our next
issue of On a Roll and on our website, we'll
publish some of the highlights. Yours truly, Inga
and Jan
| A Race With Character: Festival de la Santé by Ray Vermette |

The Montreal marathon is not an easy course, or a
fast course, but it is a technical course which poses
a lot of different challenges and tests your skating
skills in a way that most other races don't.

| Double Push Technique by Barry Publow |
 |
It's important to understand that double push
and classic skating are entirely different technical
skating skills. Many confusions exist between the
two. Sometimes this results in a classic technique
skater adopting parts of the look of the double push
without actually performing the double push. This
can result in many issues like misalignments and less
powerful skating.

| Women and Iron by Beth Mansfield |
 |
Should women be concerned about their iron status
and take iron supplements? The current studies in
exercise performance indicate that exercise
performance is not affected until the hemoglobin
levels fall. Iron is important in exercise because it is a
key component of the hemoglobin molecule in your
red blood cells.

| A Season of PhilosoFit by Dominique Larocque |

I believe that age, fitness level, body size and
gender should never be a deterrent in trying any new
creative activity, whether athletic or artistic in
nature.
Having enjoyed a long career as an elite athlete, I
still race on occasion just for fun but today I find
much more enjoyment coaching and supporting my
clients through their own personal journeys on the
road to excellence and personal fulfillment. In that
vein, I hope you enjoyed my weekly PhilosoFit
column.

| Announcing Ottawa Inline Skating Festival 2006 |
 |
WOW.
Two weeks after the OISF went off without a hitch
and 195 skaters and over 70 volunteers came
together to celebrate one of the all-around best
skating events, I'm still thrilled about having been
part of making it happen.
Our event post mortem behind us, we have picked
the 2006 date. And yes, it'll be Labour Day
Weekend
again. So mark your calendars now and plan on
having a great time in Ottawa. Click to

skaters who participated in the festival events.
