MILE

Mileage Club

The Rules

The mileage club is intended to promote fitness and social activities through skating. As such, the mileage club is only intended to represent workouts, training, social or other events that involve inline skating. The mileage club is part of a more advanced training log feature, and you may enter other activities through the advanced logging screen, but these other activities will not count towards your mileage. The mileage club also only applies during the summer skating season from April 1st through (and including) October 31st. Skating outside of these dates does not count towards the mileage club rankings.

Our club does not attempt to police or validate your claimed mileage. Please be honest in representing your skate mileage. Not only is this good sportsmanship but will avoid consistency problems. Reaching a challenging goal is ultimately more enjoyable if you really earn it, and can be proud of it. We recognize top mileage skaters at our year end awards party, be honest, earn your miles and then enjoy the victory, and your achievment.

How to Log your Mileage

To enter your distance, click the Miles Log link at the top of our website (you must be logged in first). Then enter the Date, Duration (if desired) and Distance.  If Duration is entered, the system will calculate your average pace.  If you are unsure of the distance you skated, here is a great site to help you determine the distance: Map My Run. You can also try Gmaps Pedometer

The mileage club is currently a free service of our club. You must create an online account to use the mileage club, but you are not required to become a paid member of the club.

Where to Skate

Ottawa is an amazing city for outdoors activities. Very few other cities offer so much for outdoor parks and paths for cycling and skating. By mid April most of Ottawa paths begin to clear of snow. You can skate at venues such as P8, Asticou and NRC, we recommend skating P8 and NRC on tuesdays and thursdays, become a member and train with us. Not just for mileage but to meet other skaters!

Our club also offers drop in Try and Learn clinics on sundays through the summer Sunday Bikedays program. As well, we offer a Wednesday Night Skate (WNS) social night, skate on the paths and then relax with other skaters at a local pub, what could be better? Our club makes regular skate trips throughout the summer to the P'tit Train linear park where you can skate as much as 100Km in a single session. For unscheduled outings, watch the Discussion Group for posts from members for Mileage Club outings.
