Recreational
This year, OISC will provide a recreational program, the K2 Fun-Fit Wednesday Social Skates. /Registration for this program allows you to take advantage of our incredible member benefits.
Please note: While the Wednesday skates are a more relaxed, recreational/fitness level of skating, you must be able to skate well enough to keep a reasonable pace with the main group. Approximately 15km/ hr (a leisure bike pace). This program is not well-suited to absolute beginners. If you are unsure what level of skater you are, you are welcome to try the Wednesday skate for free the first time to see if it is a good fit for you. Alternatively, visit our tent every Sunday on the Rockcliffe Parkway to get some advice, an evaluation of where you might fit in the club's various programs, or a free lesson (see below).

The K2 Fun-Fit Wednesday Social Skates are all about fun, fitness & friends. This group’s focus is mostly recreational skating as a way to enjoy the outdoors and adopt a more active lifestyle. Come out and enjoy the Ottawa paths for a couple of hours of skating and then refuel with us at a local restaurant or pub. As mentione above, this program is not well suited to absolute beginners. Skaters should be able to skate approximately 15km/hr, the same pace as a leisurely bike ride.
TIME CHANGE: As the summer sun is setting earlier and earlier, each Wednesday session will now starts at 6:00 pm with introductions and announcements.
Each Wednesday the session will be held on a different path. See the K2 Fun-Fit Wednesday Social Skate Schedule below (directions to each location are given below the table). You may also contact social@inlineottawa.com for more information.
For new skaters, the Club is offering basic skills workshops during NCC/Alcatel Sunday Bike Days on Colonel By Drive. These workshops, facilitated by instructors from the Club, are geared to new skaters that want to learn about skating safety, inline skating equipment, and try out basic technique including stride, turning and braking. These workshops are free to the public but registration is required as there is a maximum of 20 participants per session. Registration can be done at the OISC tent the day of the class.
Attendees of the basic skills workshop are encouraged to check out the inline skating instruction courses offered by The City of Ottawa. See the City of Ottawa site for more details.
