PHILOSOFIT

Patience

It is incredibly easy to get too excited early in spring about our training volume and intensity. How tempting to skate an extra 20 minutes because the weather is simply too nice. Or to jump on a roadie¢s back wheel to see how long we can hang on. Be aware that the insecure ego is often the culprit behind early season sport injuries. When temptation is near, I urge you to take a big breath, relax and visualize your long-term goals for the season and stay with those thoughts to calm you and reassure you. Patience and self-discipline are what will make you a better and faster skater. Let your relaxed skating rhythm connect you with your inner wisdom which will guide you to adopt a step-by-step approach to training. Process is key and the antidote to blisters, a sore back and pulled groin muscles. You cannot rush your fitness but how easy to rush injuries!
