Grace
When I was winning races on the mountain bike and inline racing circuits I knew in my heart that one day someone faster would come along. They would beat me to the finish line and take top spot. Part of my mental training was to prepare myself for that day, so that grace would replace disappointment.
Grace is a lovely quality. I wish we could witness more grace in athletics, in the workplace, in families and in society as a whole. Grace is the quality of attractiveness, especially in manner and movement. Inline skating is a very graceful sport. The question to ask ourselves is whether we spend as much time developing gracefullness in manner (i.e. sportsmanship) as well as movement. (i.e. sport).
